Martes Robinson of Egg Harbor Township was arrested on Saturday, May 18, the Northfield Police Department said in a news release. An officer stopped him driving a white Chevrolet Trailblazer "with multiple equipment violations" near the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Second Street at around 9:54 a.m.
Police said the SUV was reported stolen in Northfield on Friday, May 17. Robinson was also wanted by the Atlantic County Sheriff's Department for not showing up to court on aggravated assault and weapon charges.
Robinson was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
"Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and remove their keys from inside," Northfield police said in their release. "Over the past few weeks, we have seen an uptick in motor vehicle burglaries and stolen motor vehicles in our area."
